銭谷江理は、両親がアーティストということもあり、幼い頃より自然と絵画に接しながら実際に制作を
行って来たという環境にありました。出身地の徳島県の伝統舞踊である阿波踊りは、彼女の制作に
おいては精神の立脚点ともいえる重要な要素になっており、そのリズムと躍動力が独特な高揚感を
生み出し、それが作品の中に通奏低音として無意識に存在しているといえます。阿波踊りの並々な
らぬ存在にどうやって自分を対峙させ、そのパワーを絵画表現の一つとして自分のものとして結実さ
せていくのか。この難題への模索が、新たな表現への渇望となり当初は具象絵画も描いていました
が、抽象表現へと自然と向かわせました。この点において、制作動機の根本が他のアーティストにく
らべ、かなり具体的かつユニークなものがあるといえます。制作においては、下絵を描かず色彩とヴ
ォリュームの立ち上がりの感触を無意識に操りながら、同時に様々な自分を取り巻く世俗の物やその
状態などからの影響も感じつつ、躍動的で高揚感ある世界を表現することを目指します。したがって
抽象的で自由なフォルムこそが、彼女を大胆に解放させることになります。

Zenitani was born in Tokushima prefecture in 1973. She is the daughter of artistic parents and
began painting and drawing at an early age - it seems her destiny to begin a career as a painter.
She is strongly influenced by her homeland where several styles of traditional performances and
dancing originate. Specific to her development is the dance called Awa-odori ? this is a key element
into exploring her unconscious and subconscious artistic progress. Awa-odri is one of Tokushima’s
intangible legacies, the community there is very devoted to preserving this heritage from one
generation to the next. It goes without saying that Zenitani is no exception ? she has been truly
effected by this strong tradition.　Zenitani chooses an abstract expression style and relies on the
power of delirious sensations and a tacit knowledge she wishes to articulate. In addition, the essence
of Awa-odori brings a feeling of joy that appears repeatedly in her work. An interaction between her
inner sensitivity and outer secular objects is potent in her work, and is also a driving force for her to
visualize her images.
