朝日聡子は多摩美術大学絵画科油画専攻を2003年に卒業し、翌年、シェル美術財団賞に入選本江邦夫審査員賞を受賞しました。

その後、毎年、個展発表を続けて精力的に制作活動を行う若手アーティストです。



本展覧会の副題　Wandervogel　は、「渡り鳥」というドイツ語語源の意味があります。しかし、朝日の作品テーマは鳥達の飛ぶ様子

などを克明に描くことにあるわけではありません。浮遊感のある鳥というモチーフを用い、画面の奥に深く拡がる空間性を描き出し、

観る者に新しい心象風景を提示することにあると言えます。一見、平面的な筆致に目を奪われがちですが、少し視点をずらすと、

思いもよらない、足がすくむような、ありそうで決して存在しない「景色」が立ち現われてきます。その「景色」とは観る者の感受性に

強く訴えかけて、他者にはないそれぞれの個人が自由に持ちえる固有の「景色」であることに気付かされるのです。



本展覧会では、最新作を含め、約20点を展示します。渡り鳥のように、自分たちのこれから向かう新しい方角を、遥か彼方まで続く

「景色」のなかに、静かに見つけ出す展覧会になります。

Satoko Asahi has graduated from Tama Art University in 2003, and she received the Kunio Motoe

Prize from the Shell Art Foundation Show the following year. Since then she has held solo exhibitions

regularly.



This exhibition’s sub-title “Wandervogel” is originally from an old German word which means a

migratory bird. The main idea behind her work is not to simply portray a flying bird, but instead to

try to grasp an expanding space where viewers are given new imagined landscape with floating

objects ? birds. At a glance, Asahi’s work may seem flat and simple, however with a proper stance

viewers will be exposed to an unprecedented and unique landscape.



This exhibition is to give viewers a new angle and perspective for the scenery of their consciousness

by 20 pieces of her new works.
